Garbage trucks for sorted waste put into service

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A joint campaign titled ‘On-site reduction of recyclable waste and waste sorting’ by Ulaanbaatar city Mayor's Office, Governor’s Office of Khan-Uul district and Health and Social Policy Institute of Mongolia is successfully running in Khan-Uul district.
In order to improve waste management the waste collection locations for sorted recyclable waste and transportation schedules have been set up. Special waste trucks are now put into service to pick-up the sorted waste every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
‘Mog plastic’ LLC, recycling plant will collect the sorted waste including glass and can, plastic and paper waste at the fixed locations.
The officials noted that landfilling of all solid household waste is the main reason of air and soil contamination, and the source of various infectious diseases. With waste sorting 85 percent of total waste can be recycled.
