Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Health plans to reintroduce healthcare as an independent subject in curriculum starting in the academic year of 2018-2019.

On February 12, a working group meeting was held to discuss the matter of improvement of subject instruction plan, textbook and teaching. The meeting also assessed the ongoing preparations for the re-inclusion of healthcare as an independent subject in the general education curriculum.

Healthcare was an independent subject until 2014, when a ministerial ordinance was issued to integrate the subject with other subjects.

The working group is in charge of reforming the healthcare subject instruction plan and its inclusion in the curriculum. The working group was formed pursuant to a joint ordinance issued by Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa.

The joint working group includes representatives from the two Ministries, the Public Health Institute, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Children’s Fund.
