UN Resident Coordinator wants to hear UB Mayor's views

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city Mr E.Bat-Uul Tuesday met Ms Beate Trankmann, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to Mongolia.

The Mayor congratulated Ms Trankmann on being appointed the new UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to Mongolia, and exchanged views with her on the Mongolia-UNDP cooperation.

The guest said that UN intends to reflect goals of urban sustainable development and providing every person with a right of expressing their voice in the five-year prospect, and asked the Mayor to express his views on contributing to urban development, on paying attention to a sustainable development of Ulaanbaatar.

Ms Trankmann said the UNDP wants to collaborate with the capital city of Mongolia in providing the city’s people with guaranteed drinking water, involving vulnerable strata in essential services of the society, and improving environmentally-friendly renewable energy. She underlined an importance of focusing on ensuring the civil role in the sphere of environmentally-friendly green development.

In response, the Mayor proposed a cooperation, expressing a satisfaction with boosting Mongolia-UNDP collaboration in joint development and equal role of people. He suggested cooperating in supporting small-sized credit and small- and middle-sized productions.

Ms Trankmann supported all the cooperation ideas and some proposals.
