Prime Minister Directs Officials to Intensify Anti-Corruption Drive

Ulaanbaatar, December 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav issued a directive to a working group to accelerate the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Program of Mongolia. The Meeting convened on December 9, 2025, at the State Palace.
The working group was chaired by First Deputy Chief of Cabinet Secretariat Munkh-Erdene Dembereltseren and includes the state secretaries of all ministries. During the meeting, members reviewed progress on plans to combat corruption, address the root causes of graft and abuse of office, and prevent conflicts of interest.
To implement the National Anti-Corruption Program the group will focus on strengthening the justice system, significantly reduce political corruption and abuse of office. The directive from Zandanshatar emphasizes the need to reinforce commitment, leadership, and transparency in anti-corruption efforts at all levels, and obliges Cabinet members, ministry secretaries, heads of government agencies, provincial, capital city, district, and soum governors, and all civil servants to uphold integrity and avoid corruption and conflicts of interest.
The Prime Minister noted that ministry secretaries must lead anti-corruption efforts, instructed officials to prioritize the public interest. He also announced that 2026 will be designated as the “Year of Strengthening Discipline and Accountability in the Civil Service.”
Mongolia's score and ranking in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index in recent years have been steadily declining, the group will identify the factors behind decline, implement the organization’s recommendations, eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, protect investor rights, improve the business climate and rectify violated rights.
Officials from the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) also
attended the meeting and exchanged views on the implementation of the National
Anti-Corruption Program.
