Mongolia to Cooperate with South Korea in Developing Specialized Social Protection Services

Ulaanbaatar, July 4,
2025 /MONTSAME/. Director of the Special Center for Social Protection under the Governor of
the Capital City, Sh. Munkhtsetseg, and President of the “Center for the Movement
to Protect the Han River” NGO from the Republic of Korea, Nam Kyung Wan, signed
a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation.
At the initiative of the President of the
“Center for the Movement to Protect the Han River” NGO and representative of
Namyangju City in the Republic of Korea, Nam Kyung Wan, the Governor’s Office of Namyangju City sent a
proposal to the Office of the Governor of the Capital City of Mongolia,
offering a donation to Ulaanbaatar city and to expand cooperation by
establishing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Special Center for Social
Protection in Mongolia, which provides services to vulnerable social groups and
homeless citizens.
Within the Memorandum, the two sides agreed to
cooperate in providing support to the education and protection of citizens
served at the Special Center for Social Protection, preserving the environment,
planting trees to reduce desertification, enhancing reforestation and gardening,
voluntary general cleaning, and implementing a bilateral cultural and
experience exchange program.
Additionally, a team
of 19 officials from the “Center for the Movement to Protect the Han River”
visited and got acquainted with the operations at the Training and Development
Complex, an extension of the Special Center for Social Protection, on June 29-July
3, 2025.
Since the cities of Ulaanbaatar and Namyangju established friendly relations in 1998, the two cities have been continuously expanding cooperation in the fields of education, culture, arts, and agriculture.
