LED Lights Illuminate Crosswalks Near Schools in Ulaanbaatar
Society
Ulaanbaatar, January 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Children in the capital bore the brunt of road accidents last year. More than half or 379 of the 694 children injured in road accidents across the country had accidents in the capital city.
Research reveals two peak times
for road accidents: the pre-dawn hours of 7-8 am and the dusk settling in
between 5-8 pm. The accidents are attributed to limited visibility and low
light during these periods. Therefore, to improve visibility for pedestrians
and warn drivers, crosswalk projection lights have been installed at crosswalks
near schools and kindergartens in the city.
Following the achievements of
crosswalk projection lights, which have demonstrably improved visibility and
increased pedestrian safety, the Governor's Office of Ulaanbaatar City plans to
expand the initiative. Moving forward, LED lights will be installed at 102
pedestrian crossings near school zones across the capital city.
