Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. According to the preliminary results, the gross industrial output reached MNT 14.8 trillion in the first 11 months of 2020, decreased by MNT 1.7 trillion (10.1%) from the same period of the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to MNT 1.5 trillion (12.8%) decrease in mining and quarrying gross output and MNT 226.5 billion (6.6 %) decrease in manufacturing output. However, the electricity, thermal energy and water supply production output increased by MNT 68.9 billion (6.9 %) compared to the same period of the previous year.

By preliminary results, the mining and quarrying gross output reached MNT 10.4 trillion in the first 11 months of 2020, decreased by MNT 1.5 trillion (12.8%) from the same period of the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to the decline in the mining of coal and lignite by MNT 1.8 trillion (36.7%), and extraction of crude petroleum by MNT 565.0 billion (60.3%) compared to the same period of the previous year.

In November 2020, the gross industrial output reached MNT 1.7 trillion, decreased by MNT 141.8 billion (7.5%) from the previous month. This decrease was mainly due to MNT 82.0 billion (21.8%) decrease in manufacturing output and MNT 77.6 billion (5.6 %) mining and quarrying output.

By the preliminary results of the mining and quarrying sector, in the first 11 months of 2020, extraction of iron ore and gold increased by 7.6-26.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the manufacturing sector, the production of alcoholic beverages, bottled water, soft drink, juice, alcohol, cement, milk and wheat flour increased by 1.7-13.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Also, the production of coal briquettes and face masks increased by 2.3-12.0 times more compared to the same period of the previous year.

However, in the mining and quarrying sector, extractions of brown coal, fluorspar, copper concentrate, hard coal and crude oil decreased by 3.9-43.6%. In the manufacturing sector, productions of lime, combed cashmere, copper cathode, meat, concentrated coal, cashmere products, metal steed and cigarettes decreased by 7.5-53.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

By the preliminary results of the first 11 months of 2020, the sales of industrial output reached MNT17.4 trillion, decreased by MNT 1.4 trillion (7.5%) compared to the same period of the previous year. This decrease was mainly resulted from MNT 1.1 trillion (8.9%) decrease in sales of mining and quarrying output and MNT 374.9 billion (7.7%) decrease in sales of manufacturing output.

The sales of mining and quarrying output decreased by MNT 1.1 trillion (8.9%) compared to the same period of the previous year. This decrease was mainly resulted from MNT 1.5 trillion (31.7%) decrease in sales of coal mining output and MNT 526.9 billion (59.2%) decrease in sales of crude petroleum output, respectively.

In the total sales of industrial output, MNT 10.1 trillion (58.2%) was export, of which MNT 8.6 trillion (84.6%) was export of the mining and quarrying output.

In the total of MNT 8.6 trillion export of mining and quarrying output, 60.4% was metal ores, 33.5% was coal and lignite, 4.2% was crude petroleum, 1.8% was other mining and quarrying output.

In November 2020, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index was 124.2 (2015=100), decreased by 0.8 percent from the same period of the previous year and by 6.2 percent from the previous month. But it was increased by 11.1 percent from the end of the previous year.
