Regional SMEs having training in Japan
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry is organizing a course under the theme, ‘Developing regional small and medium enterprises’, in the Obihiro city of Tokachi subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan between February 10 to March 2.
Officials of the Ministry, the Food and Agriculture Departments of the Umnugobi, Khentii and Bulgan aimags as well as representatives of several entities, such as Monfresh and Fine Cheese, are attending the theory and practice combined course.
Located in the northern part of Japan, the Tokachi subprefecture leads the country in various types of food production, such as wheat, potatoes and corn, alongside having a high number of entities in farming. For this reason, the entities attending the course have become acquainted with the operations as well as the new technology at the local factories that process milk and cheesemakers, such as Tokachino Fromages Co., Ltd., Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm and Country Home Fukei.
The Mongolian cheesemakers have also introduced their cheese to the Japanese counterpart, sharing their experiences and receiving advice. The meeting was attended by professionals and experts, such as Chairman of Tokachino Fromages Co., Ltd. Sekibe Norio, Secretary General at the Tokachi Office of Small and Medium Business Association of Hokkaido prefecture Yoneki Minoru and Professor of Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Fujikura Yuji.
As the laws on small and medium enterprises and cooperatives as well as the program on the development of cooperatives are currently in the process of being revised, the ministry officials are holding meetings with the Hokkaido Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, Small and Medium Business Association and Japan Agricultural Cooperatives.
