Mongolian Men’s Freestyle Wrestling Team Attends Joint Training in Dagestan

Ulaanbaatar, May 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Members of the Mongolian Men's Freestyle Wrestling Team are currently participating in international training program.


In particular, the Men’s National Freestyle Wrestling Team is taking part in a joint training camp in Dagestan for the first time with its full roster. The training is being conducted under the leadership of Head Coach D. Gombodorj and Assistant Coaches J. Chuluunbat and G. Amarkhuu. The camp will run for 21 days, following which the team will compete in the prestigious Ali Aliev International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament, named after the legendary five-time world champion from Dagestan, Ali Aliev. The team is scheduled to return to Mongolia on May 21, 2025, and will next compete in the Senior Ranking Series (GR/FS/WW) – Ulaanbaatar Open, to be held at the “Buyant-Ukhaa” Sports Palace on May 29-June 1, 2025.


Meanwhile, six athletes who emerged victorious in the U23 National Championships, accompanied by their coach, departed for the Republic of Korea to participate in the 2025 Wrestling Developing Countries Joint Training Program. The training is organized by the Korea Wrestling Association, which is fully covering all expenses for the athletes and coach. The Joint Training Program will continue until May 18, 2025.
