Ulaanbaatar, April 8, 2024.
/MONTSAME/. Mongolia's Cable Car Transport Project which aims at improving
public transportation in Ulaanbaatar by providing more transportation options
for citizens and increasing ridership in the Capital is moving ahead with defining its second line. The new line will be 2.7 km long and
run from the southwest parking lot of the National Park to the northwest side
of Shangri-La Centre, where D. Natsagdorj's statue was previously located.
Governor of the Capital City and the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar
Nyambaatar Khishgee said, "The Cable Car Project's second line is
estimated to have eight pylons. However, there are several concrete poles for overhead
power lines situated along the project's route. We will consult with the
relevant officials to transfer these poles. If this is feasible, it will lead
to a decrease in the overall construction cost. Additionally, we plan to
enhance the integration of public transport with the new cable car line."
Additionally, the Mayor emphasized the development of a project
aimed at creating an underground pedestrian street in selected locations to
integrate various public transport modes and facilitate seamless travel for passengers
between cable car stations, bus stations, and subway stations.
The second line will transport 3,400 passengers per hour in one
direction which means having more capacity than the first line.
