Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, March 6, winners of the annual Russian essay
contest organized by the ‘Novosti Mongolia’ weekly operated by MONTSAME news
agency and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture have been awarded scholarships
to study in Russia.
The third essay contest held among high school
students under the auspices of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia,
Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Ulaanbaatar, and Mongolian-Russian
Friendship Association had the topic ‘Mongolians' contribution to the Victory of
Great Patriotic War’ in honor of the 75th anniversary of the end of
World War II.
Sh.Batbold, Deputy Director of MONTSAME, Amgalan R. Bazarhandaev, Counsellor at the Russian Embassy in Mongolia, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture, and Ksenia Y. Pankova, Third Secretary, press attaché at the Russian Embassy, presented full government scholarships worth USD 50 thousand to G.Oyunjargal and N.Khulan, seniors from the Mongolian-Russian Joint School, and A.Bilguun, 11th grader from the Ulaanbaatar branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, at the press center of MONTSAME news agency.
Noting that the contest involved many children from not
only the capital city, but also rural areas, Deputy Director Sh.Batbold emphasized
that the scholarship that went to one student last year, is awarded to three
children this year.
During the award ceremony, Mr. A.R.Bazarhandaev highlighted that winner G.Oyunjargal’s essay was written so well, almost like a research paper. “She wrote about how a caravan of thousand camels delivered Mongolia’s aid to Biysk, Russia during wartime based on a story she heard from her grandmother. That story was rarely told in media coverage in Russia,” he said, promising to have the essay published in Russia if she writes a longer version of the essay with more details.
