Mongolia and Belarus to cooperate in transport sector

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Road and Transport Development B.Enkh-Amgalan is paying an official visit to the Republic of Belarus on January 27-30 at the invitation of Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Aleksey Nikolaevich Avramenko.


On the first day of the visit, Mongolian delegation led by Minister B.Enkh-Amgalan held a meeting with Mr. A.N.Avramenko, sharing views on joint actions being realized in bilateral road and transport sector and opportunities on expanding and enriching the cooperation with new projects and measures.    


In particular, the sides broadly discussed matters including improving capacity of state owned companies, which are in charge of repair and maintenance of roads, by purchasing special purpose equipment manufactured by Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) as well as possibilities to set up freight train assembling workshop in Mongolia under Belarusian technology and sharing experience on improving logistics operation of road and railroad transit transports.


As Mongolia and Belarus are on geographically important locations, especially the closest way of trade and circulation of goods that connected Asia and Europe pass through territories of the two countries, the Ministers also talked over collaboration in developing transport corridor targeted from China to Europe. Within it, the sides came to a decision to organize training for rendering support to Mongolian carriers to acquire necessary legal and practical knowledge and gaining experience on conducting international transportation.


At the end of the meeting, the Ministers of the two countries renewed and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Mongolian Ministry of Road and Transport Development and the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications, that reflected the discussed issues and ways of further cooperation.
