Darkhan-Uul /MONTSAME/. Governor of Darkhan-Uul aimag S.Nasanbat worked in the Principality of Asturias, the Kingdom of Spain on October 21-25 at the invitation of the Principality’s administration.

During his visit, the Governor signed the Memorandums of Understanding on investment into establishment of a cluster of leather plant. The sides agreed to co-work in establishing Leather Complex in Darkhan-Uul aimag. Under the support of Mongolian President, a construction work of Darkhan Leather Complex is underway in Khongor soum of the aimag. Mongolia has an abundant source of animal origin raw materials and annually 10-15 million leathers are supplied to the domestic market. But the absence of stable supply and sales network causes quality and the market condition to be inadequate. Taking an advantage of the abundant source, it is indispensable to develop leather sector as a cluster-based industrial parks in order to manufacture competitive value-added products. Within the project, 15 large plants and waste water treatment plant will be built, creating over 7740 jobs.

The Darkhan-Uul aimag Governor also agreed with Spanish side to develop cooperation in intensified animal husbandry, trade and tourism. During a meeting with the Governor of Asturias, they exchanged views on products that are possible to be exported from Darkhan-Uul aimag to Asturias. In particular, it was agreed to study a possibility to supply honey and seabuckthorn to the Principality.

Moreover, a discussion about a possibility to invest to meat and milk factories was held with authorities of Spain's ACS investment group. In this regard, the Governor assigned relevant officials of the aimag to prepare investment projects through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Darkhan-Uul aimag.

The Asturias' officials emphasized opportunities to cooperate in education and health, especially sports areas.
