Reception held for establishment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On October 29, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka held a reception on the occasion of the Day for establishment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
Minister of Defense N.Enkhbold, Defense and Security Policy Advisor to President, Lieutenant General D.Davaa and other officials attended the reception.
Japan highly
appraises an active engagement of Mongolia for international
peace and has been rendering assistance and support since 2012 towards
improving the skill more. Especially, the Japanese side is sharing its knowledge
and experience by conducting training in construction sector such as
developing road and it is considered one of the important training of the Mongolian Armed Forces, playing significant role in peacekeeping
operation of military engineering unit of Mongolia.
More than 60 military contingent of the Japan Self-Defense Forces took part this year in ‘Khaan Quest’ international military exercise, which is jointly held by Mongolia and the United States. Joint Statement of Prime Ministers of the two countries, which made December last year, mentioned that Japan would be actively participating in the exercise in the future.
A total of 57 officers of the Mongolian Armed Forces have studied in Japan until today. The students who studied in Japan have been making their contribution in implementation of projects within cooperation in defense sector.
