International conference on urban water management takes place

Khuvsgul /MONTSAME/. An international conference under the theme, ‘Sustainable development of urban water management’, took place in Murun, Khuvsgul aimag on October 19-20.
At the conference, presentations were done on various topics, such as services and repairs for sewerage and pipeline, experience of using a small-scale water treatment plant in Mongolia, methods for building wells, benefits of hydropower, and sustainable development theory of urban water management. Representatives of Baruth/Mark, Germany also became acquainted with the water management system of Murun, and held discussions on further partnership.
Water specialists of the town of Baruth/Mark, representatives of Brandenburgische Wasserakademie (Brandenburg Academy of Water), and specialists of the corresponding organization of Khuvsgul aimag participated in the conference. Murun city of Khuvsgul aimag has been actively developing partnership with Baruth/Mark since 2011, and last year, a street named ‘Muruner Straße’ (Murun Street) was established in the town. While previously, the town supplied a fire truck to the Emergency Management Agency of Khuvsgul aimag and water purifiers to the aimag’s schools, the two sides are to partner in fresh water management in the future.
