Project on treatment of children’s dental problems to be implemented

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Deputy Minister of Health L.Byambasuren and Head of the Department for Medical Assistance at the Ministry of Health Ya.Buyanjargal received President of Healthy City Support Organization NGO of Japan Mitsuyuki Chiba, consultants at Japanese Dental Association Murashige Fujino, Masaru Hasegawa and Inagaki Tomikazu on August 27. Governor of Chingeltei district of the capital city J.Erdenebat and corresponding officials attended the meeting.


In the framework of partnership between the Governor’s Office of Chingeltei district and the Healthy City Support Organization NGO of Japan, a project on prevention of dental problems in school children is to be implemented, and has recently selected two schools of the district for the first phase of the project.


Deputy Minister L.Byambasuren said, “Protecting the dental health of children is one of the priorities of the health sector in Mongolia. I express my gratitude to you all for implementing this project on reducing dental health problems of children during this time when the ‘Healthy Teeth - Healthy child’ national programme has been approved by the Government of Mongolia, with check-ups and treatment being done for children in the framework of enhancing the accessibility of dental care and services. 


In response, President of Healthy City Support Organization NGO Mitsuyuki Chiba said, “We work in partnership with Chingeltei district as a way to support a healthy city. This time, we are planning to do a survey on the current state of dental health problems in the students of school no. 50 and implement measures for reducing the cases for tooth decay for children,” and requested the ministry’s support in the implementation of the project.


Deputy Minister L.Byambasuren highlighted that the ministry will focus on prevention by doing check-ups and treatment to school children and noted that the ministry will support the project.
