129.4 km paved road between Bayankhongor soum and Baidrag Bridge opens

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A new 129.4 kilometer paved road from Bayankhongor soum center to Baidrag Bridge in Bayankhongor aimag opened for vehicles. The road allows western aimags to be connected to the country’s horizontal auto roads.
The road-building project started in June 2017 with a financing from the Mongolian Ministry of Finance and the Export-Import Bank of China to complete in 13 months. The contractor of the project was Shanghai Construction Group LLC along with Mongolian companies. The road is part of a paved road connecting Gobi-Altai aimag and Ulaanbaatar city.
Last weekend, Minister of Road and Transport Development B.Enkh-Amgalan worked in Bayankhongor and Gobi-Altai aimag. Minister B.Enkh-Amgalan also got acquainted with the construction works of a 126.7 km long auto road from Baidrag Bridge to Gobi-Altai aimag. The construction of the road, which started three months ago, is now 37 percent complete and expected to complete within this year. 13 factories to process raw materials for the road construction are operating and around 400 people and 200 vehicles and techniques are being used for the road development, according to Max Road LLC, the contractor of the road project.
