Khuvsgul /MONTSAME/. The ‘Project for Strengthening Teachers’ Ability and Reasonable Treatments for Children with Disabilities’ (START), has been successfully finished being implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Khuvsgul aimag. During the course of the project, personnel in government and non-government organizations built their capacity in helping children with disabilities with their development and prevent children from developing disabilities.

The project had many good results, such as the establishment of the committee in support of having children with disabilities attend school, regular checkups for children that are 18-36 months old and capacity building for the teachers at the Titem and Ireedui 21st century schools in Murun soum.

The good example of the two schools have also been shared with teachers at other schools and kindergartens by training them in how they should receive and treat children with disabilities. Furthermore, the skills of the members at the commission for the health, education and social protection of children with disabilities were strengthened, giving support to the commission’s operations by assisting them in methodology, and case discussions on the issues faced by children with disabilities are now regularly held for government organizations.
