United Nations ESCAP to support Mongolian President’s Regional Energy Initiative

/MONTSAME/ On 29-30 April 2019, Mr. Bayanjargal Byambasaikhan, Special Envoy of
the President of Mongolia on Regional Energy Cooperation and H.E. Mr.
Tumurkhuleg Tugsbilguun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and
Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) met with H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah
Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive
Secretary of the UN ESCAP and Mr. Hongpeng Liu, Director of the Energy Division
of UN ESCAP respectively.
The parties
discussed and agreed on plans to support the establishment of a regional
organization for the Northeast Asian common electricity market, initiated by
H.E. Mr. Khaltmaa Battulga, President of Mongolia.
Moreover,
the parties agreed to continue the cooperation in the energy sector and to
co-host a plenary session on Northeast Asia regional energy cooperation as part
of the Sixth International Conference of Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast
Asian Security to be held on 5-6 June 2019 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
