School dormitories of two soums to be extended with grant from Japan

Bayankhongor /MONTSAME/ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka went on a working visit to Bayankhongor aimag on March 13-14.

The Ambassador held a meeting with the aimag governing body to discuss further partnership, and came to the decision to support the children’s right to live in a safe environment and education in Bayankhongor aimag.

Governor of Bayankhongor aimag G.Batjargal and Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka signed two agreements to carry out projects on the extension of the dormitory of the school in Bayan-Undur soum and the renovation of the dormitory of the school in Bayantsagaan soum. Of the over MNT 500 million needed for the project, half of the funding is to be covered by the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme of the Government of Japan, while the rest is to be covered by the local development fund.

In the frameworks of the GGP programme, repairs and renovations have been done for 14 schools, three health centers and one electricity source structure alongside the establishment of the school, ‘Sougo Seiko Gakkou’, in Bayankhongor aimag.
