Mongolians seeking possible ways to save Tuul river

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Implementing parties of the ‘Ecological Assessment of Tuul River Basin’ project launched their meeting at the ‘Khukh Asar’ conference hall, Ulaanbaatar Hotel on October 17.

World countries have forwarded the Healthy River Initiative with purposes to evaluate a deterioration level of river basins and to send outcomes of the assessment to policy and decision makers and the public. Some positive outcomes have been observed from the activities.

In order to implement the initiative in Mongolia, the ‘Ecological Assessment Tuul River Basin’ project is being co-implemented by the Authority of Tuul River at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

During the two-day meeting, participants will introduce methods of the ecological assessment in Tuul River basin and will present the assessment area, criteria and information sources.

The conference brought together some 80 representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Authority Tuul River Basin, the Mineral Resources Authority, the General Agency for Specialized Investigation, the Ulaanbaatar Water and Sewerage Authority and other organizations.
