Lost people in snow storm under search

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Yesterday, Uvs, Zavkhan, Khuvsgul, Bayan-Ulgii, Gobi-Altai, Khentii, Bayan-Khongor and Khovd aimags hit by heavy snow fall and incidents of human death and injuries occurred due to losing their way and freezing.

Currently, emergency servicemen are conducting search operations to find eight persons including 3 children as no contact has been made since their departure. Those include: In Ulaangom soum of Uvs aimag two 33 and 50-year-old men left home at 8 am of March 21 to herd their livestock back home in Tarialan soum of Uvs aimag, three children at age of 10-15 have been lost with their livestock around 10:30 pm, in Umnugobi soum of Uvs aimag a physician and a driver left soum center by a car at 2:40 pm in emergency call, in Altantsogts soum of Bayan-Ulgii aimag 50 year old man left home for soum center around 7 pm by a motocycle.

Emergency servicemen earlier have found 2 other women herders safe: In Biger soum of Gobi-Altai aimag a 57-year-old woman was found after 14 hours’ search  and a 34-year-old woman of Dorvoljin soum of Zavkhan aimag was found after some 4 hours’ search in 5 km far from her home. Sadly, a 62-year-old man, who left his stuck truck in snow, was found dead from freezing.

National Emergency Management Agency warns people to be careful in stormy spring days avoiding to depart for long distance journey or herding livestock and leaving children without adults.
