Air quality improves in Orkhon thanks to low-emission stoves
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Last year, Orkhon aimag’s air pollution reduced by 10 percent against 2014, said Kh.Mashbat, a chairman of Department of Environment and Tourism of this province. First stage of the locality’s master plan on reducing air pollution will complete in 2017.
In the margin of this plan, low-emission stoves have been distributed to ger-area households, where the pollution is caused by smoke from chimneys. In 2012, a total of 1,345 “Olzii” stoves were sold to families of Bayanbulag, Bulag, Tsagaanchuluut and Denj bags at discounted price. The second stage will be realized in 2018-2020, he said.
