Mongolian fine art exhibitions open in San Francisco

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Bay Area of San Francisco, the USA, is hosting these days two large exhibitions of Mongolian fine arts, in frames of the “Mongolian celebration” that is marking the establishment of Mongolian Studies Department at University of California.

“Visions from afar” exhibition by Bay Area Mongolians S.Torburam, S.Tamir and B.Enkhbat opened at “Silk Road” gallery on October 4. It displays cut-out art pieces expressing Mongolia’s national culture and historic designs by famous artist S.Torburam, black and white portrait-paintings of artists and celebrities of Mongolia and from Hollywood, as well as the paintings by B.Enkhbat illustrating the combinations of traditional and modern perspectives.

The second exhibition called “Three Gems” opened at UC Berkeley October 6. A visitor will enjoy asymmetrical paintings of Mongolian livelihood and culture painted by a well-known Mongolian artist S.Togs-Oyun, artworks expressing human’s inner world by J.Monkhtsetseg, and interesting traditional design paintings expressing modern lifestyle in Mongolia painted by a young modernist B.Nomin, the first Mongolian to have received “The Pollock-Krasner” foundation scholarship.
