Foreign tourists experience authentic felt making tradition
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In Khujirt soum of Uvurkhangai aimag, a felt making festival took place for the seventh year, attracting more than 1000 local and foreign tourists. The event was aimed at promoting the felt and felt making tradition, one of the traditional heritage and practices of the Mongolian people, and creating new artifacts combining the traditional way of felt making with modern approaches and attracting tourists.

Mongolian mountaineers conquer Lenin Peak
On August 5, Mongolian mountaineers successfully reached the top of Lenin peak, a 7,134 m peak situated on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and is the second-highest point of both countries.

ROSATOM International Fishing Tournament held in Russia for the first time
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. ROSATOM International Fishing Tournament was held on 1-2 August in PRO ANGLERS LEAGUE format of the European boat spinning tournament. Participants from different countries gathered to compete in the waters of the Gulf of Finland. The event was held near the Leningrad nuclear power plant (NPP), which is Russia’s largest operating NPP.

Teams of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan complete their short-distance mixed relay
On August 7, the short-distance mixed relay event kicked off. The participants have to cover the distance of 3.1 km by foot and 4.1 km on horseback, doing five missions such as throwing grenades and going through obstacles as they go along the course.

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ From 13 to 16 August. “Tea Road”  heritage and cultural festival will be organized for the second time in Khovd aimag, home to many ethnic groups. There are people of 17 ethnic groups, such as Altai Uriankhai, Durvud, Zakhchin, Myangad, Olot, Torghut, Khalkha, Khoshut, Kazakh and Tuva live in 17 soums of Khovd aimag. This festival aims to promote and pass down the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, folk art and tea culture of these ethnic communities and develop local tourism sector.
