PM gives orders to health, emergency organizations responding to COVID-19
On February 1, 2021, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and Head of State Emergency Commission and Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan conducted a site visit to the National Emergency Management Agency, Operative staff of the State Emergency Commission and Emergency Commission of Ulaanbaatar city to get acquainted with the activities of the organizations and hear timely update surrounding the coronavirus response measures.

COVID-19: 35 new cases detected
Over the past day, 5,433 people were involved in a PCR testing nationwide and as a result 35 new cases of COVID-19 were detected, reported today by A. Ambaselmaa, Head of the Surveillance Department of the National Center for Communicable Diseases.

Development of new National Library building 85 percent complete
State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture G.Erdenebat, Director of the Department of Culture and Enlightenment of Ministry of Culture D.Narantsetseg, and library policy coordination analyst B.Bayaraa have visited the construction site of the National Library, checking on the preparations to move to the new library building and the library management plan.

Parliament adopts amendments to Banking Law
At its plenary session held on January 28, 2021, State Great Khural, parliament of Mongolia, approved amendments to the Banking Law of Mongolia. 90.9 percent of 55 members present at the meeting of the parliament’s autumn session voted in favor of the changes to the Banking Law.

Ministers of new cabinet appointed
Ministers of the new cabinet have been just appointed by taking the oath of office to the parliament, after Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene issued the ordinance on the appointments. The Steering Committee of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party earlier today, January 29, approved the list of nominees for cabinet ministers, who were then presented to the President and Parliament by the recently appointed Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene.

AquaRating certification awarded to Ulaanbaatar Water Supply, Sewerage Authority
As part of the Utility Operations Sub-activity of the Bulk Water Supply Project under the Mongolian Water Compact, operations of Ulaanbaatar Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (USUG) and Ulaanbaatar Housing and Public Utilities Authority (OSNAAUG) was evaluated by the AquaRating. It is an international assessment and benchmarking tool for utility operations developed by the International Water Association (IWA).

Parliament overrides President’s vetoes on Laws on Anti-Corruption and Courts
At its plenary session held on January 28, the State Great Khural of Mongolia rejected a line-item veto imposed by President of Mongolia Battulga Khaltmaa on the Law against Corruption, adopted on December 30, 2020. The proposal to reject the veto has been forwarded by the parliament’s standing committees to the parliament.
