Opening the meeting, Beatriz Maroto Izquierdo, Country Director of Geres INGO, lead implementer of the project emphasized that “Despite the difficult situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the project is being implemented successfully”. During the opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Sébastien Surun , Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic to Mongolia said that “I am grateful that this project against air pollution addresses environmental, economic and social factors together.”

Terminal for container transportation at Gashuunsukhait to be operated by public and private companies
The new terminal for container transportation at Gashuunsukhait border checkpoint is currently undergoing the inspection of the State Commission. The terminal’s construction was financed by Energy Resource LLC, Erdenes Tavantolgoi JSC, and Tavantolgoi JSC.

M.Lkhagvagerel wins Mongolia’s first world championship medal in heavyweight wrestling
On October 3, IM M.Lkhagvagerel has won the bronze medal in the men’s 125 kg weight class at the World Wrestling Championship taking place in Oslo, Norway from October 2 to October 10. It is the first ever time for a Mongolian wrestling athlete to win a medal from the 125 kg weight class.

World Bank forecasts 4.5 percent growth in Mongolia
According to World Bank, Mongolia’s economic growth is projected to expand by 4.5 percent this year, nearly 2 percentage points less than previous forecast. As for 2022, it is expected to be 5.2 percent.
