Internal migration to be halted temporarily
The regular election of Citizens’ Representative Khural will be held on October 15 this year. According to the Law on Elections of Mongolia, citizens’ internal migration is to be suspended nationwide starting August 16, 2020 until the end of the day after the Election polling day, reported the General Authority for Intellectual Property and Registration.

UNFPA: Gender-based, domestic violence clients rise by 87 percent amid COVID-19
The handover ceremony of dignity kits and COVID-19 guidelines to One Stop Service Centers and shelters in Ulaanbaatar was held last Thursday, July 16. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have been working together with financial support from the Government of Japan to protect maternal and child health, as well as to prevent and respond to violence against women and children during the time of COVID-19 global pandemic.

BoM purchases 2.3 tons of precious metal in June
In June 2020, the precious metal purchase of the Bank of Mongolia (BoM) was 2.3 tons, raising the BoM’s total precious metal purchase of 2020 to 10.8 tons, of which 9.1 tons were gold and 1.7 tons were silver. It means the amount of precious metal purchase increased by 4.8 tons compared with the same period of previous year.
