/MONTSAME/. The Investment and Trade Agency, in cooperation with the Mongolian
National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) and the Ulaanbaatar Chamber
of Commerce, organized a training seminar under the theme “Business
Opportunities through Free Trade and Economic Partnership Agreements.”
The training aims to provide
advice and share information with enterprises and manufacturers engaged in export
and import operations or seeking to expand their businesses into foreign
markets. Such sessions are held regularly on various topics related to trade
and investment.
Head of the Trade Promotion Department
of the Investment and Trade Agency, O. Erdenebayar, stated, “As part of the
Government of Mongolia’s efforts to improve the business environment and reduce
trade barriers, our agency provides information and advisory services to
enterprises on business opportunities. This training is organized in
cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, the General Customs
Administration, the MNCCI, and the Ministry of Economic Development. Mongolia,
as a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), enjoys reduced tariffs and
the opportunity to establish free trade agreements with other member countries.
Through this training, experts are providing participants with information and
guidance on how to make use of these agreements. The key benefit of Economic
Partnership Agreements (EPAs) is that goods exported from Mongolia to partner
countries can enjoy tariff reductions or exemptions, thereby gaining better
access to third-country markets. This makes the agreements economically
significant for our exporters.”
During the training, sectoral experts gave presentations and advice on Mongolia’s existing trade agreements, tariff preferences, rules of origin, documentation requirements, challenges faced by small and medium enterprises, and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.
