Mining Minister works at Khushuut coal mine
On the occasion of 95th anniversary of mining sector in Mongolia, the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry organized a ‘Western regional forum’ in Khovd aimag. Within the event, the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry D. Sumyabazar and Member of Parliament A. Undraa worked at Khushuut coal mine on November 27.
State Secretary attends Ministerial Conference on RECI
The 2nd Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration (RECI) in Asia and the Pacific was held in Bangkok on 21-24 November. The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) co-organized the conference.
Student exchange program signed
On November 24, Sengdeuane Lachanthaboune, Minister of Education and Sports of Lao People’s Democratic Republic paid an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of her Mongolian counterpart Ts. Tsogzolmaa.
Oath-taking ceremony held at State House
On the Day of Proclamation or November 26, an ‘Oath-taking ceremony of a citizen of Mongolia’ was held at the State House. Representatives from 64,375 youth who are now getting 16 years old and citizen’s identity cards of Mongolia, attended the ceremony, patronized by the Prime Minister and organized for the 15th time.
Mining Minister stresses to operate within the law
On November 23, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D. Sumyabazar met representatives of China’s ‘Shin Shin’ LLC. At the meeting, the Minister stressed that foreign companies, operating in the territory of Mongolia, must operate in compliance with relevant laws and legislations.
Mining Minister suggests providing locals with jobs
On November 23, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D. Sumyabazar met delegates led by Jiang Weidong, President of Petrochina Daqing Tamsag LLC. Petrochina Daqing Tamsag LLC is one of Chinese investors operating in oil sector in Mongolia. At the meeting, the Minister was introduced its pressing issues regarding taxation, labor force and energy.
Minister meets representatives of professional mining associations
On November 23, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D. Sumyabazar held a meeting with authorities of professional associations of the sector. Present at the meeting were advisor to the Minister, chairmen and heads of the ministry’s departments and authorities of over 40 professional associations.
Mongolia and Vietnam to boost bilateral cooperation
On November 23, S. Batbold, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, met Doan Thi Huong, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. At the meeting, the Mayor said that Ulaanbaatar city has a relationship with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities of Vietnam, but the bilateral cooperation between the cities is inactive in recent years.
Environment minister meets JICA Representative
Environment and Tourism Minister N. Tserenbat met Japanese delegates headed by Sato Mitsumi, Chief Representative of JICA Mongolia Office, on November 22. At the meeting, Sato Mitsumi gave a briefing about a project on national capacity building for greenhouse gas inventories.
Maternal and infant mortality decreases by 16.9 percent
The Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) jointly organized a national consultation on reducing maternal and infant mortality on November 22. Deputy Health Minister L. Byambasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry D. Ochirbat and WHO Representative a.i. in Mongolia Dr Sergey Diorditsa headed the consultation.
Biocombinat’s renovation to begin next spring
On November 20, Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister B. Batzorig received Istvan Joo, Ministerial Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. Beginning the meeting, the Minister thanked Istvan Joo for attaching an importance to expanding Mongolia-Hungary cooperation in food and agricultural sectors, in particular proceeding modernization and extensional works of Biocombinat state-owned enterprise.
Mongolia to introduce Italian technology
Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On November 17, Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister B. Batzorig met Andrea de Felip, Ambassador of Italy. During the meeting, Minister expressed his commitment to pay a special attention on developing active cooperation in food, agriculture and light industrial sectors of the two countries.
Mongolia to introduce green certification and eco-labeling
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 21, a workshop titled ‘Accelerating sustainable development through green finance: green certification and eco-labeling’ is taking place on its second day in Ulaanbaatar. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism, UNESCAP, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) are jointly organizing the workshop.

Fourteen Singaporean photographers recently came to Altai soum, Bayan-Ulgii aimag and shot photos about the lifestyle of eagle hunters and culture of hunting with eagles. They also visited family of 12-year old eagle huntress A.Aigerim, 7th grade student of the secondary school of Altai soum.

Mogoin Gol exports coal to China
Mogoin Gol Company has expanded its mining operation and began exporting coal to China. The company started operating in 1971 to provide coal to Khuvsgul and Zavkhan aimags. A reserve of the coal mine is estimated to be 12 million tons; roughly two million tons have been mined so far.

Mongolians in Switzerland donate drone to NEMA
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolians living in Geneva, Switzerland, ran a donation campaign for a purpose to improve a readiness of Mongolian emergency service and donate a required equipment. Forty-three Mongolians joined the campaign, resulting in collection of MNT4.3 million, and bought a drone with the money.
