Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At the national level, 24.9 thousand
mothers delivered gave birth in the first 4 months of 2020 and increased by 22
(0.1%) compared to the same period of the previous year. Out of total mothers gave birth, 18.6 thousand (74.5%) mothers covered in antenatal care (ANC) for 6 and
more times, decreased by 121 (0.6%) compared to the same period of the previous
year. There were 97 (0.4%) home births registered, increased by 12 (14.1%)
compared to the same period of the previous year.
In April 2020, 6405 mothers gave birth and the number decreased by 235 mothers (3.5%) compared to the previous month. Out of total
mothers gave birth, 4741 (74.0%) covered in ANC for 6 and more times and
decreased by 181 (3.7%) compared to the previous month. There are 23 home
births (0.4%) registered, decreased by 6 (20.7%) compared to the previous
month.
According to the “Electronic birth registration” by the
Ministry of Health, 6316 mothers delivered children, and 6399 children were
issued registration numbers in April 2020. From total newborn, 3320 were boys
and 3079 are girls, and 166 were twins. The average weight of newborns was 3409
grams, and the average height of newborns was 50.7 cm.
In terms of age, groups of mothers gave birth, 3.8
percent of mothers delivered child aged up to 20 years old, 92.0 percent were
20-39 years old and 4.2 percent were over 40 years old.
By education level, 1.3 percent of mothers gave birth had no education, 3.7 percent had primary education, 12.7 percent had lower
secondary education, 33.3 percent had upper secondary education, 5.8 percent
had technical and vocational education, 41.7 percent had a diploma and bachelor
degree and 1.5 percent had mastered or higher education. By the marital status
of mothers, 54.0 percent of mothers delivered were legally married, 44.2
percent of them were married but not officially registered, and 1.8 percent
were divorced.
At the national level, the number or births reached 25.1
thousand, in the first 4 months of 2020, increased by 40 (0.2%) compared to the
same period of the previous year. Of the total live births, 24.2 thousand
(96.4%) babies were early initiation of breast-feeding, increased by 40 (0.2%)
from the same period of the previous year. Of the total live births, 224 (0.9%)
were congenital abnormalities and 1170 (4.7%) were in weight less than 2500
grams. The stillbirth rate was 6 per 1000 total births.
In April 2020, 6452 were born, alive which is a decrease of
236 (3.5%) from the previous month. Of the total live births, 6218 (96.4%) were
early initiation of breast-feeding, a decrease of 217 (3.4%) from the previous
month. Of the total live births, 61 (0.9%) were congenital abnormalities and
281 (4.4%) were less than 2500 grams in weight. The stillbirth rate was 6 per
1000 total births.
