Two loan agreements with ADB ratified
During the last day of the Parliamentary spring session held on July 6, the parliament ratified two loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank. Social Welfare Support  Program Phase 2 is a part of the funding portfolio of the Extended Fund Facility of the International Monetary Fund. 18 policy measures are planned to be taken in two phases, including lowering budget deficit, making social welfare program more efficient and upgrading database of targeted groups. USD 150 million ADB loan will have a 15-year term, including a grace period of three years.

Parliamentary spring session closed
The Parliamentary spring session of 2017 closed yesterday on July 6. The session continued for 55 working days and adopted 18 independent laws, 113 law amendments and ratifications of 9 loan agreements and 30 resolutions.

Renovation of agricultural machinery 60 percent complete
Renovation of agricultural machinery is running with 60 percent completion, importing mainly grain combines and threshing machines, underlined Ts.Bolorchuluun, Chairman of Agriculture Policy implementation management department of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.

Lakebed of Khukh Nuur cleaned
The "Khuren baavgai” (Brown Bear) company, which runs activities of environmental assessment and research cleaned the bottom of Khukh Nuur (Blue Lake) this spring. The ecosystem of the lake, the lowest point of Mongolia situated in the southwest of Ereentsav soum of Dornod aimag, has been degraded over the last few years due to devastating slug propagation in the Khukh Lake. In this regard, a bid was announced for studies to be financed from aimag budget and "Khuren Baavgai" Company won the bid.

Hague Tribunal dismissed complaint against Mongolian Government
The Government of Mongolia won in the arbitration dispute with three Chinese investors to Tumurtein Khuder Company. The investors appealed to the permanent court of Arbitration at the Hague in February 2010, concerning the Government agency’s decision on cancellation of Tumurtei khuder company’s license of Tumurtei iron ore mine. On June 30, the arbitral tribunal made decision to dismiss the claimants’ requests in full.

Fire fighting units to be newly established in soums
Fire fighting units will be newly established in Bayan-Undur soum of Orkhon aimag, Khatgal village of Alag-Erdene soum of Khovsgol aimag, Zereg soum of Hovd aimag as well as a search and rescue unit in Erdenedalai soum, Dundgobi province. The Government made this decision considering the high risks of forest, steppe and indoor fires and number of the population, entities and companies of these soums. Fire fighting unit with 4th class has to have 47 employees, but the staff number of the new units has been set to be 39, taking into account the economic difficulties.

Regulations for assistance and allowance for the elderly and disabled approved
During yesterday’s cabinet meeting, the Government approved regulations on Provision of services,  assistance and support to the elderly;  Establishing the Elderly Funds; Eligibility of the elderly and persons with disabilities to use public transportation free of charge regardless their residence location; Managing and using database on the elderly employment; and Provision of aids and assistance to persons with disabilities.

M.Tumenbayar wins first gold in Korea Open Taekwondo Championships
M.Tumenbayar, athlete of the National Taekwondo team of Mongolia won gold medal in "Korea Open-2017" international taekwondo championships, in his 58-kg category. The tournament, being held in Chuncheon, South Korea on July 2-7, is the G2 Class or high ranking competition and 300 taekwondo fighters from over 70 countries are competing.

Obstacles to Mongolia-Japan EPA implementation discussed
The 8th Mongolia-Japan Joint Consultation with the government and private sector was held on July 4, today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia. It has been one year since the the Economic Partnership Agreement between Mongolia and Japan was established and during the consultation, the parties discussed the agreement outcomes, pressing issues and obstacles in the implementation as well as possible solutions to resolve them.

J.Erdenebat: “We succeeded to stop sharp rise in exchange rate and protected purchasing power”
On June 30, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat delivered a report to the parliament regular session on measures taken and their results within the framework of Extended Fund Facility (EFF) of the International Monetary Fund in response to questions by MP O.Enkhtuvshin.   "The Government started the EFF implementation on May 24, when the IMF Executive Board approved the financial arrangement for Mongolia. The program has three-year term and IMF has provided USD 38.6 million out of total USD434.3 million for support of payment balance" PM noted.

Ballet dancers win awards from international competition in South Korea
Ballet dancers of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet successfully took part in the 10th Korea International Ballet Competition held from June 28 to July 2. Ballet dancer O.Khatanbaatar won third place, B.Dulguun was granted with a special prize, while dancers M.Telmen and Batchimeg were entitled to study in the Samyoung University.

Erdmin turns 20 years old
‘Erdmin’ LLC, the first copper cathode factory in Mongolia, manufactures more than 40 types of the copper wire for electrical use and began manufacturing extension leads with its copper wire which became a product of high demand in the local market.

Young people help preserving gazelles
Due to draughts in most parts of the country this year, a huge number of gazelle has died of thirst. Therefore, the proactive youngsters of “Dorniin Ikh Gegee” and “Tomo Building” LLCs have built four pools in the steppe.

Wastewater treatment plants to be built in four aimags
Wastewater treatment plants with a capacity of 3,000 cubic meter each will be constructed in the centers of Uvurkhangai, Umnugobi, Dornogobi and Arkhangai aimags. Today, June 30, the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, Ministry of Finance of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) established the agreement.

The second roundtable meeting of the central banks of Mongolia and the Russian Federation is being held on 29-30 June in Ulaanbaatar. Young doctor awarded for her new cancer treatment introduction
On June 29, B.Enkhjargal, who is introducing a new cancer treatment, was awarded the Best Young Doctor of the Year by a decree of the President of Mongolia. Enkhjargal Bayarsaikhan, Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Laboratory Department of the National Cancer Center is awarded with the prize named after the President for her introduction of treatment that corresponding to patient’s revealed cancer gene type for the first time in Mongolia and targeted cancer therapy and for the valuable contribution of the development of cancer research in molecular genetics, mentioned in the decree.

200 parking spaces on Sukhbaatar Square now open
On June 29, a 200-car parking space was put into operation on the south side of the central square of the capital-the Sukhbaatar Square, with a view to reduce traffic congestion in the central area of the city and create a comfortable environment for citizens, domestic and foreign tourists and travelers. Drainage system, lighting, pedestrian and chair installation works were made besides soil stripping and asphalt works were carried-out on 6650 sq.m of land from June 5-23. The new parking space has 6 bus stops, 3 parking lots for disabled persons’ vehicles and 193 normal parking spaces.

Best solution to air pollution to be awarded with MNT 1 million
Today, June 29, Arig Bank announced the "Let's fight Air Pollution together!" challenge with an objective to reduce carbon dioxide emissions coming from Ger districts by discovering the best heating, energy generation and supply solutions and testing, applying them in practice. Best solutions will be rewarded with MNT100 million.
