State Flag Day Observed with Military Parade

Ulaanbaatar, July 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia marked State Flag Day with a military parade dedicated to the State Flag, one of the official symbols of the country's independence and sovereignty. The event aimed to honor the State Flag, preserve historical traditions, strengthen national unity, and instill patriotic pride among citizens and future generations.

 

In accordance with tradition, military and law enforcement officers ceremoniously paid tribute to the State Flag by conducting a grand parade. The event began with the placement of the State Flag and the Flag of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at a place of honor. Minister of Defense Batlut Damba saluted the troops and formally reported to President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Khurelsukh Ukhnaa on the parade’s readiness.

 

The National Anthem was performed as the State Flag was raised, accompanied by a 21-gun salute.

 

President Khurelsukh delivered an address to the troops, veterans, patriots, and citizens attending the ceremony. The President emphasized the importance of honoring the flag as a symbol of freedom, statehood, unity, and the heroic spirit of the Mongolian people. The President noted that the ceremony serves to reinforce patriotism, promote national pride, and pass down the country's historical legacy to future generations.


President Khurelsukh also stressed the significance of safeguarding independence, upholding the rights and freedoms of citizens, and respecting national traditions, history, and culture.

 

This year’s parade included 23 units from the military and law enforcement institutions, including troops who represented Mongolia at the Moscow Victory Day Parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Over 1,400 personnel participated, including the State Honor Guard, two cavalry units, and the combined brass orchestra of the Ulaanbaatar Military Command.

 

Mounted soldiers carried flags of various historic Mongol states, including the Hunnu Empire, the Great Mongol Empire, the Bogdo Khanate Mongolia, the People’s Revolutionary Army, and the modern Armed Forces.

 

The parade was commanded by the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and Commander of the Ulaanbaatar Military Command. Brigadier General J. Usukhbayar.

 

Present at the ceremony were  Chairman of the State Great Khural Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav, members of the State Great Khural and the Government, defense officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, veterans, citizens, and tourists.

 

Since 2009, Mongolia has celebrated State Flag Day on July 10 each year. The State Flag, together with the Emblem, Banner, Seal, and Anthem, serves as a symbol of Mongolia’s sovereignty and national identity. The Golden Soyombo symbol depicted on the flag represents the eternal prosperity, harmony, and justice of the Mongolian people.
