Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The UN Joint Programme on ‘Rolling
Out an Integrated Approach to SDGs Financing in Mongolia’ by UNDP, UNICEF and
UNFPA conducted a youth-focused expenditure review to generate evidence-based
information for promoting greater visibility of youth-related issues into the
government budget and off-budget planning and strengthen the effectiveness of
public resources for youth.
Findings of the youth-focused expenditure review were presented to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Agency for Family, Child and Youth Development on 4 January 2022 for their inputs.
Preliminary results of the study show that total financing
for youth as percentage of the state budget and GDP, increased from 9.79
percent in 2017 to 10.59 percent in 2020, and from 3.15 percent to 3.95 percent,
respectively.
Although the alignment of government budgets with youth
development programmes improved in 2021 compared to previous years, the link
with national youth development priorities and SDGs can be further
strengthened.
