Wreaths laid to statue of Mahatma Gandhi

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Embassy of the Republic of India to Mongolia on October 3 organized a wreath laying ceremony.
During the ceremony which took place in Mahatma Ghandi street in Ulaanbaatar, Khamba Lama of Gandantegchinlen Monastery Nomun Khan D.Choijamts, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary M.P. Singh, Chair of India-Mongolia parliamentary group D.Saranchimeg, MPs Ch.Undram and Sh.Adishaa laid wreaths to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid tribute after taking a minute of silence for global peace and for those who lost their lives to the pandemic.
Buddhist mantras were chanted by monks and, the songs - ‘Vaishnav Jan Te’ and ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ were sung at the ceremony.
The Ambassador highlighted the popularity of Gandhi's philosophy, which has served as a beacon for a number of leaders and nations in the areas of balanced social and economic development, a stable environment, respect for human rights and the promotion of gender equality.
Moreover, he stressed that Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence, as well as his political ideology and valuable contributions to India's struggle for freedom, are still relevant today.

Indian Studies O.Nyamdavaa, former Ambassador of Mongolia to India G.Ganbold and
Indian expats in Mongolia attended the wreath laying ceremony.
