Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A memorandum of understanding was signed on May 17 between Khunan Jargalsaikhan, Acting Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia (“NHRCM”) and Batdavaa Batmunkh, Chairperson of the National Statistics Office of Mongolia (“NSOM”).
Within the framework of this cooperation, both organizations will work on evaluating the implementation of human rights, the implementation of the recommendations of international human rights mechanisms, evaluating the implementation of international human rights treaties, and developing a human rights-based approach to data.
Both organizations will evaluate the implementation of human rights and sustainable development goals in accordance with the Guidance on a human rights-based approach to data developed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. In addition, the National Statistics Office's website on Mongolian Statistical Information service www.1212.mn will dedicate a section to “Human Rights.”
Accordingly, the forthcoming NHRCM's annual report on human rights and freedoms in Mongolia will be based on the human rights-based data of the NSOM, which is expected to improve the enactment of human rights-based policy and decisions by the Parliament and the Government of Mongolia.
In the future, the parties will work to progress the human rights-based approach to data and regularly publish human rights statistics to the public.
