128 twins born in February

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At the national level, in the first two months of
2020, the number of mothers delivered child reached 11.9 thousand, increased by
138 (1.2%) compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of
mothers who delivered a child and covered for antenatal care (ANC) for six more
times reached 8.9 thousand (75.0%), increased by 178 (2.0%) compared to the
same period of the previous year. In the reference period, there were registered
45 (0.4%) home births, decreased by 2 (4.3%) compared to the same period of the
previous year.
According to the ‘Electronic birth registration’ of Ministry of Health, in February 2020, 5597 mothers delivered a child and 5661 children got registration numbers. From the total newborn, 2843 were boys, and 2818 were girls, and there were 128 twins. The average weight of newborns was 3390 grams and the average height of newborns was 50.7 cm.
By age groups, 4.0 percent of mothers delivered child were under 20 years old, 92.4 percent were 20-39 years old, and 3.6 percent were over 40 years old. Moreover, 1.4 percent of mothers delivered the child had no education, 4.2 percent had primary education, 12.7 percent had lower secondary education, 33.4 percent had upper secondary education, 6.4 percent had technical and vocational education, 40.7 percent had a diploma and bachelor’s degree and 1.2 percent had masters or higher education.
