Mongolia welcomes 577.3 thousand tourists last year

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The National Statistical Office reported that a total of 6.1 million passengers (double counting) have crossed the border of Mongolia in 2019, showing a decrease of 5.5 thousand or 0.1 percent.
By the purpose for entry of the foreign passengers, 577.3 thousand or 90.6 percent entered for tourism purposes. In other words, the number of foreign tourists has grown up by around 50 thousand compared with the previous year. More specifically, the number of tourists from Vietnam is increased by 357 (50.7 percent), tourists from Hong Kong increased by 1190 (38.1 percent), tourists from South Korea increased by 17.095 (20.3 percent), tourists from Malaysia increased by 331 (19.1 percent) and tourists from Japan increased by 3429 (16.3 percent) respectively. Whereas, tourists from Turkey decreased by 825 (30.6 percent), tourists from Ukraine decreased by 308 (20.0 percent) and tourists from Australia decreased by 481 (6.4 percent).
