Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. A comprehensive high-level mid-term review of the implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action (VPoA) for Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) for the decade 2014-2024 was held on December 5-6 in New York within the framework of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations.

The high-level meeting aimed to assess progress, identify obstacles and constraints, emerging challenges and opportunities, as well as finding ways to further accelerate its implementation in the remaining five years.

During the event, the member states adopted the inter-governmentally agreed draft political declaration, which reflected provisions towards protection of Landlocked Developing Countries’ (LLDCs’) interests and appeals to take actual measures to accelerate the VPoA implementation.

In the high-level meeting, S.Sukhbold, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations, delivered a speech, introducing policy and measures being taken by Mongolian government within the framework of the VPoA and calling for participants to render support to the operations of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries and for LLDCs to join multi-partial agreement on the establishment of the ITTLLDCs.

With a purpose to protect interest of LLDCs, especially ensuring coherence of trade-related activities, Mongolia submits an initiative to set up a group of LLDCs within the World Trade Organization, emphasized Mr.Sukhbold, expressing willingness to cooperate with LLDCs on this matter.
