Seeking ways to eliminate poverty together

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The national conference themed ‘Seeking ways to eliminate poverty together’ took place on September 25 at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI). The purpose of the conference is to support home or small businesses by domestic largest entities.
“To reduce poverty, we must raise citizens’ income through increasing jobs. By doings so, tangible achievements will be made. Domestic companies and entities will play important role in it. There are plenty of opportunities in businesses and economy. First of all we should encourage private sector,” Chairman of the MNCCI O.Amartuvshin said.
According
to the 2018 study by the National Statistical Office, 28.4 percent of total
population of Mongolia is living in condition underneath the poverty line. Comparing with the performance in 1995-1997 when it was 35 percent, substantial
changes have not been made, attendees highlighted at the conference.
Therefore, the national conference has been held in aims of enhancing coherence and outcomes of international and national projects and programs that are being implemented within Mongolia’s Sustainable Development Vision 2030, sharing practices and discussing effective ways together, noted the organizers.
In addition, works created by citizens who got involved in ‘Improving the household livelihood and resilience’ program were on display. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and World Vision jointly held the conference with support of the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the MNCCI.
