Education Minister meets Nobel Laureate Dr. Ryoji Noyori

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. MP and Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg today received delegates led by Nobel Laureate Dr. Ryoji Noyori, Professor at Nagoya University.

thanked Dr. Noyori for arriving to lecture for Mongolian students,
teachers, scholars and researchers during the days of opening new academic year.
He also expressed contentment for an opportunity to exchange views on
Mongolia-Japan cooperation in educational and scientific sector, while putting
forward a request to study experience in building the personnel capacity of
Mongolia’s tertiary educational sector, introducing good experience and intensifying
external cooperation within the framework of National Program on developing
research-based universities and the goals to be ranked Asia’s best
universities.
Nobel Laureate Dr. Noyori praised Mongolia’s program and goals of educational sector and noted the importance of partnership between scientific organizations and higher educational institutions to achieve the goals. He also advised to partner with foreign universities and study mutual experiences.
Dr. Ryoji
Noyori received the Nobel
Prize in Chemistry 2001 jointly with William S. Knowles ‘for their work on
chirally catalysed hydrogenation reactions’ and K. Barry Sharpless ‘for his
work on chirally catalysed oxidation reactions.’
