UNFPA presents equipment worth MNT 45 million to Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center

Orkhon /MONTSAME/. A workforce led by Head of UNFPA Office in Mongolia Kaori Ishikawa, project manager Dr. B.Tsendmaa, and specialist at Medical Assistance Department of the Ministry of Health B.Tsevelmee worked in Orkhon aimag to evaluate the implementation of the project, ‘Introducing new technologies in management of mother and child health care’, being implemented in Mongolia since 2007. MNT 358 million has been invested in Orkhon aimag in the framework of the project so far. 

They were received by Deputy Governor of Orkhon aimag S.Batjargal during their working visit. At the start of the meeting, Head of UNFPA Office in Mongolia Kaori Ishikawa congratulated the aimag for having no maternal mortality in the last five years and expressed her intention of partnering in solving issues, such as sexually transmitted infections, abortions as well as teen pregnancy and birth.


In the framework of the project, ‘Introducing new technologies in management of mother and child health care’, long-distance diagnosis systems were installed, and training departments for intensive care for mothers and infants were opened in 21 aimags and 2 districts of the capital city.


For the great results in implementing the project in Orkhon aimag, UNFPA presented equipment, including the necessary equipment and devices to organize training and camera for the birthing room, worth a total of MNT 48 million to the Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Erdenet city.
