MP D.Damba-Ochir meets representatives of AmCham Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 1, MP and Head of the
Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy D.Damba-Ochir met with Chairman of
the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia
Oybek Khalilov, Executive Director O.Adiya, and Director of Policy and Advocacy
G.Javkhlantugs.
At the beginning of the meeting, MP D.Damba-Ochir briefed the delegation on the current economic and investment climate in Mongolia and the Parliament's policies and decisions in the fields.
He said, “The Parliament is planning to discuss a number of business and banking bills including the ones on allowing entry of foreign banks, defining their scope of operation, and improving the business license issuance procedure. The package of revised tax bills and the public procurement bill have recently gone through the Parliament. As the Head of the Economic Standing Committee, I am paying attention to the promotion of foreign investment in the private sector rather than relying on soft loans. The Economic Forum of Mongolia will take place soon. The mortgage loan financing has been settled. Major decisions have been made to create favorable economic environment through establishment of railways and leather and cashmere industrial complex in Darkah-Uul aimag.”
The representatives of the American Chamber expressed their
readiness to collaborate in diversifying the country’s economy, especially
raising investments in the fields of infrastructure and agriculture.
Mr. Oybek Khalilov concurred with the MP on the importance
of private sector-based economic growth while pointing out it is necessary to gain
the trust of foreign investors and protect their interest. He also said that the compliance of international agreements has a significant role in attracting
investments.
