Positive approach to be created in health sector
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The National Health Sector Conference kicked off under the theme, 'Smile - Positive approach', yesterday on February 14.
Minister of Health D.Sarangerel introduced the work that was done in the sector in 2018 at the conference. She noted that salaries of nurses were raised by 20-30 percent, and then highlighted that 14 illnesses that used to be treated overseas have now become possible to be cured in Mongolia.
She then continued on by noting that a total of 253 medical specialists attended courses for professional development, which was funded by the state budget and governments of other countries, and that medical checkups for diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, tuberculosis and STDs, were done on 52,636 citizens over the age of 18 with the Health Insurance Fund (HIF).
With the implementation of the second phase of the ‘Whole Liver-Mongolia’ program in 2018, free checkups were done on 425,611 citizens, which cost MNT 19.8 billion from HIF.
The minister then announced the motto for the year of 2019 as ‘Smile-Positive approach’, calling for mutual respect for the three-sided relationship of medical specialists - patients - family, and expressed her confidence in medical specialists being able to create a positive atmosphere.
Directors of specialized hospitals, regional diagnostic and treatment centers and health departments of aimags and the capital city as well as representatives of over 50 organizations, such as the World Health Organization in Mongolia, Asian Development Bank, UNICEF, UNFPA and World Bank, attended the conference.
