Researcher L.Dugerjav heads Antarctica for the 6th time

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of the Antarctica Research Center, researcher, Sc.D L.Dugerjav sailed for Antarctica with his team of oceanographer D.Ganbaatar, PhD student D.Chinzorig and Sc.D D.Batmunkh.

In 2009, Doctor L.Dugerjav set up his first base in Antarctica, building a yurt and raising the flag of Mongolia. While doing research on climate change at the Bulgarian Base on the Livingston Island of Antarctica between December 2012 and January 2013, he traveled to the South Pole, which was his fourth expedition.

Lately in 2017, L.Dugerjav made his presentation titled ‘Impact of global warming on Mongolia’ and visited Antarctica for the fifth time.

As the first Mongolian to reach the South Pole, he has the peak named after him in Antarctica. His Antarctica Research Center operates with about 40 members.
