Meat hygiene can now be checked through app

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The model launching of the system of animal origin raw materials and products value chain and tracking, took place at the Mongolian Commodity Exchange (MCE) yesterday. By making this system available to the public, the citizens can now check whether they are buying a certified meat products that meet standards.


By scanning the code on a product using the ‘Veterinary Health Certificate’ application, the customer will be able to learn about the aimag and soum of where the meat or other animal origin product was prepared, which veterinary is responsible for it as well as which factory produced the product.

During the launching ceremony over 20 meat factories, such as Bayandelger Khuns LLC and Darkhan Meat Foods LLC as well as supermarkets, such as Emart and Nomin, signed the cooperation contracts.


Head of the Light Industry Policy Implementation and Coordination Department at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry B.Batkhuu said, “Herders will provide meat factories, that meet the standards and requirements, through the cooperatives. The factories will then provide their products to supermarkets as well as government offices, schools and kindergartens.” Director of the MCE Kh.Baatar said, “The MCE will be monitoring and confirming whether the animal origin products certified by veterinary service. We believe this is an improvement in production operations as the citizens receive meat, meat products and leather products that are of good quality and meet the requirements.”
