East Asia Red Cross Youth gather in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ East Asia Youth Camp Gathering opened on July 24 under a theme ‘Safety of School Environment’ at the Children’s Camp of the Mongolian Red Cross Society (MRCS) in Erdene soum of Tuv aimag.
 
In the 2nd edition of the gathering, over hundred participants are partaking from Mongolia, Japan, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea to learn how to ensure personal and school preparedness in case of disaster and share their knowledge with others.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by N.Bolormaa, Secretary General of MRCS, D.Baasansuren, chairman of Disaster Risk Management Department of the National Emergency Management Agency, and representatives from the Authority for Family, Child and Youth Development of Mongolia, Save the Children and Embassies of South Korea and Japan.
 
N. Bolormaa, Secretary General of MRCS, said “Recently, Mongolia hosted an Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. As a first step to realize the AMCDRR’s decision, the MRCS is now organizing the gathering here. One of main parts of disaster risk reduction is to ensure safety of school environment. In the gathering, we are exchanging experiences and planning works to be jointly carried out in the East Asia. MRCS’s Youth Movement engages help and friendship groups in schools, focusing on developing Red Cross Youth based on schools. To ensure safety in school environment, children need to be given awareness first of all.”
