UB Governor’s Office to cooperate with UNICEF in air pollution reduction

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold met with UNICEF Mongolia Representative Alex Heikens on May 25, discussing the cooperation in air pollution reduction.
Mr.Alex Heikens briefed about result of UNICEF Mongolia country program 2012-2016, objectives of the program to be implemented in 2017-2021 and expressed its willingness to cooperate in air pollution reduction, child protection and improvement of water and sanitation facilities further.
Mayor S.Batbold noted that the Governor’s Office of the Capital City and UNICEF have been collaborating in enhancing quality of life of children in Ulaanbaatar city, reducing inequality among children and to make Ulaanbaatar city child friendly since 2015 as establishing a cooperation memorandum. In particular, a program ‘Child Friendly District’ was implemented in Nalaikh district in 2012-2016 and will be carried out in Bayanzurkh district in 2017-2021. Expressing readiness to cooperate with UNICEF in above mentioned directions, Mayor S.Batbold briefed on some implementing measures regarding air pollution reduction and child protection in the capital city.
The sides agreed to continue the projects further and to closely cooperate in reducing air pollution impacts on child health.
