Ulaanbaatar City’s Winter Preparations Reach 63 Percent

Ulaanbaatar, August 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Preparation for the Winter of 2025-2026 in the Capital city is progressing, with 63 percent of the work completed.
At the regular meeting of the Capital city’s management officials, matters concerning winter preparations, road works, and land clearance were discussed.
Within the scope of winter preparation works across Ulaanbaatar city, a total of 750 projects and activities are being implemented. These efforts are ongoing in sectors including heating, electricity supply, engineering infrastructure, housing, public utilities, health, and education.
Under the electricity supply preparation plan, 98 tasks covering 32 types of mainline equipment are being carried out. Scheduled maintenance has been organized for 3,387 lines and pieces of equipment. Regarding heating, works such as the replacement of 13.5 km of primary heat transmission pipelines, major and routine repairs of pipelines and equipment have reached over 60 percent completion. Of these, works on eight primary pipelines under the “Ulaanbaatar City District Heating Efficiency Improvement Project” are 85 percent complete; repairs and equipment works by Ulaanbaatar District Heating Network JSC are 53 percent complete, with two major repairs finished. Eight state and Capital city-level projects have progressed by 48 percent, while repairs managed by consumer and residential housing offices stand at 40 percent completion. In the health sector, 65 of the planned 92 projects have been completed, with 27 still underway.
During the meeting, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar and Governor of the Capital City Nyambaatar Khishgee instructed that winter preparations be carried out in conjunction with measures to reduce air pollution, ensuring effective implementation.
The meeting also heard a presentation on the international tender for developing the Urban Planning Concept of Hunnu City.
