‘Blessed idol of Mongolians: Relic of the Buddha’s tooth’ academic conference
The relic of The Buddha's tooth, blessed idol of Mongolians who have rich Buddhist traditions, has been kept in the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum up till now. To make known and put into academic circulation the relic, Departments of History and Philosophy and Religion Studies of the National University of Mongolia in collaboration with the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum organized an international academic conference themed ‘Blessed idol of the Mongols: Relic of the Buddha’s tooth’ at the initiative of Luvsantsolmon ani (nun).
The conference was held with a series of presentations of foreign and domestic scholars on April 23, the auspicious 15th day of the last month of spring according to the Lunar calendar.

“The academic conference is involving scholars of Thailand, China and India. The studies are primarily about the Buddha’s tooth relic. There are various archival materials written differently about the relic. If it is really the one, it might become one of the main idols of the countries with Buddhist population”
After the presentations, an open discussion took place with Dr.T.Bulgan, lecturer of the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies of NUM as chair. During the discussion, opinions were exchanged on further studies, preservation and promotion of the idol.
